When I was little, my dad passed down his trusty .30-30, and I've been using it to stock the freezer with deer ever since. I also use my 20 ga pump for hunting grouse and snowshoe hares.

Which model of 30-30? That round has put more venison in freezers than anything else. From the big woods of Maine to south Texas, from the swamps of Florida to Michigan's upper peninsula. Actually saw a video the other day that said it was one to avoid, to old, to under powered, I would run the BS flag on that. Tried and True, classics don't just fade away because some internet troll with a AI voice thinks so. Hang on to it add to the memories till you had it down to the next caretaker. Pass the stories, guns with stories are just plain cool .
