That's a deep question. We can look at pros and cons and I will freely give my opinions . But at the end of the day you will get what you pay for. You and only you can make the decision.
Pros:
*Light weight
*Easy to conceal
*Great magazine capacity
*A ton of carry options, ie holsters
*Compensated barrel
*Optics ready
Cons
*The light weight leads to harder to control. I know I carry a 3.3 in 45acp w/o a comp. Without a good deal of range time, follow up shots and first round hits are hard. The Compensated barrel helps.
*Mags run $50 plus, but with 15 to 17 how many do you need.
*Short sight radius, again harder to be accurate, again a dot will help.
* Hand size, big hands and small guns don't often work well together, my 45 wears a Houge slip on grip sleeve. Had a friend that started life with a Shield, had to add a ton of material to get a proper grip. Bad grip, bad accuracy, no fun to shot= no practice.
Practice, practice and more practice. do you have the time and place to put into it. I'm a firm believer in 100 rounds of flawless performance before I carry anything.
At the end of the day you will decide what feels good to you and how well you can shoot it. If you can find a range that has one to rent or a buddy that already took the dive, try one out.
