Quick question for those who run or know the old Winchester 1887 and 1901 lever shotguns, did they cock on closing, or was it a different setup? I've read mixed things and can't find a straight answer. If you've shot or handled one, how did the action actually feel in practice?

Shooting these things is fun, and they definitely catch some eyes at the range. Just a heads up, if you're used to pump-action or break-action shotguns, you might find there's a little bit of a learning curve. But once you get the hang of it, it's totally worth it

The 1901 took the good stuff from the 1887 and made it even better with a tougher action design. But the way you handle it is totally the same. It’s just one of those things that’s tough to put into words until you’ve given it a try.
