I once lost to a 16-year-old at a local pistol match, she was smooth, fast and completely unbothered.. and I was humbled. I went home and dry-fired for an hour
Sometimes getting beaten is the best lesson...now you’ve got a partner who pushes you and keeps the shooting fun. Truly beautiful!Back 45 years ago, god I'm getting old, I had a girl beat me in a cross-country meet. She was the raining state champion. But that was devastating to an 18 year old that thought he had the world by the tail.
Since then have grown to accept that things are not what they seem. When my wife and I met, I was a coach and she was a competitive shooter, life is good. But the main goal of any coach should be that you develop shooters that can become better than you. 20 plus years later I can top her with shotgun and pistol but we still run neck and neck with the rifle . Getting beat by a girl sometimes just makes us work harder.
I have found that women use technique and focus on fundamentals when shooting rather than trying to "manhandle", control, and overpower the gun.Back 45 years ago, god I'm getting old, I had a girl beat me in a cross-country meet. It is funny how fundamentals beat brute forceI have found that women use technique and focus on fundamentals when shooting rather than trying to "manhandle", control, and overpower the gun.
When I was 17, the guys teaching my buddy and I Bullseye handgun shooting would tell us when learning the 1911 .45 to "hold it like a .22". Their way of telling us not to try overpowering it and to focus on fundamentals, relax, sight picture, breathing, trigger squeeze....
