In your opinion, has the current wave of small 9mm handguns maxed out their potential, or is there still a chance for meaningful progress in this field?

I think there are always refinements to be had on anything. But with the wide variety of small / compact 9's there would have to be a major out of the box thinking for something really big improvements to be had. But all the major manufacturers wake up every morning saying what if?. .. With the newer, yes I old, 3D design programs and 3D printing methods the idea to concept to prototype to production line can be months instead of years.

There is always a chance of improving on a design, a chance. The best progress would be made by increasing the bore diameter to .45... :ROFLMAO:
Just joking with you. I think it will be pretty difficult to significantly improve upon current designs.

My small 9mm is the Star Firestar. I am just now moving to the LCP II .22LR as its replacement for concealed carry.

tabora, if your going to switch over to the lcp, check into the federal punch ammo. I run in my challenger and it works great. I did some testing with a36 steel, comparing it to cci sv and a 45acp fmj and you can see the results. #1 cci, 2 punch, 3 45.

I received my new Time & Tactical Ruger LCP II holster today. Very well fitted, snug and completely ambidextrous IWB/OWB. They also included spare buffers and a screw set, a separate trigger/laser cover and a CC wallet.
