Muzzle device replacement

What are you looking to change from and too.
Right now, I'm using a standard A2 flash hider, but I'm really thinking of an upgrade. I want something that manages recoil better and cuts down on muzzle rise. I've been looking at compensators or maybe a hybrid brake. The VG6 Gamma and the SureFire WarComp have caught my eye. I want to keep it practical for the range and maybe do a little light competition, but I don't want something that's going to be overly aggressive with the blast.

I run linear brakes on everything I can. drives recoil more straight back and reduces sound to the shooter. On my rimfires with sv ammo they sound suppressed behind the shooter. Major reduction in sound with 223/556. There could be other things going on with the rifle if you having problems to much rise and recoil with standard ar set ups. True brakes on standard ars, are loud and disruptive
