just got a 10/22, what now?

hey folks, just picked up my first 10/22, and wow, I get the hype now! it shoots like a dream right outta the box. but man, all the customization options are wild! I'm trying not to dive in headfirst, just wanna make it feel like mine over time. what’s the best upgrade to start with? any little mods that really changed your game or just made it more fun? appreciate any tips!

Without knowing anything about what you have or what your doing with it. I would replace the steel bolt stop in the back of the receiver, then get a auto bolt release, then if you don't have an extended mag release add that. I normally buy old ones cheap and end up keeping the receiver and bolt, clean polish and resurface. Then build from there. I have 6, no 7 of them right now.

You are tipping over into a very deep rabbit hole....been there, done that, I will stick with my CZ bolt action .22, cannot shoot as much ammo up that way. First replacement on all my 10/22s was the trigger group, followed by the barrel. They are all gone now.

I've got 2. One of them was the shorter barreled one with a synthetic stock and flash suppressor on the barrel. All I did to that one is take the stupid Rambo accessory off the end of the barrel and put a thread protector on it.
The other one has had the trigger group swapped out, bull barrel, and Hogue stock put on it. I shoot the stock one a lot more.

Most of mine sport bull barrels, on all threaded barrel sit linear brakes. None are bone stock. But with the exception of the one below , she's my baby, get shot by Appleseed students more than me.
