I've been focusing on my 308 Win load workup this week. I've finally settled on a powder, but I'm unsure about my seating depth. Would love to hear what seating depths others are using with similar projectiles. Please share your data!

I've been tweaking .308 seating depths too, and it really depends on your rifle's chamber. My concern is pushing too close to the lands, it is great for accuracy, but pressure spikes can get risky fast

What kind of bullet weight or type are you using, and have you decided on a powder yet?

For .308 Win, I've had pretty good luck seating around 2.800" COAL with 168gr HPBTs. But it really varies based on your specific chamber and how close you feel like getting to the lands. I typically start off about .020" away and then make little adjustments to see what helps tighten up those groups

I had good luck with 45gr. of BLC2 and a 168gr BTHP with the 2.800" OAL in Lake City brass. Shot great in my Rock River AR-10.

I want to see where this leads. Putting together a XM 21 for class b vintage sniper rifle this year. Above spoke of staying at least .02 off the rifling. That is a safe bet. If you stay at the 2.8 OAL ,I would think, any modern rifle would be fine. My USMC M1941 using 1962 NM 172's jams all the way into the rifling. Shoots better than I do, but reloads will stay out of the rifling after I am all through the NM ammo
